Meadow Restoration at Santa Ysabel East-Sunday, August 16th at 10am

Sunday, August 16th join San Diego County Parks Rangers in working to return the Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve (East) to a pristine native meadow.  Learn why certain plants need to be removed and what will grow in their place! We will be removing black and sahara mustards, thistles, goats head, and medusa head grasses  If you can't make it on the 24th, there will be two more meadow restoration days on Sunday, September 20th and September 27th.

August 9th Bike Ride to the Creek

Sunday, August 30th at 9:30 am, join Ranger Bobbi and the county of San Diego Parks & Recreation staff on a leisurely bike ride to the second creek crossing on The Santa Ysabel Preserve East.  This ride is perfect for family groups.  Children will need to be accompanied by an adult.  Please bring your bike, helmet, plenty of water, snacks and wear appropriate attire.

Inspired by Nature-Conservation Art on Volcan Mountain, Saturday, August 15th, 10am-1pm

On Saturday, August 15th, come be Inspired by Nature through conservation art on Volcan Mountain. The Volcan Mountain Foundation’s ‘Art on the Mountain’ events series continues with a nature-inspired sculpting workshop led by Brenda Swaim. After a short intro, participants will explore VMF’s Volcan Mountain Nature Center on a silent hike and then return to the interpretive station to sculpt what has inspired you out of air-dry clay. Finally, participants will have an opportunity for journal time and sharing.
