Volunteer Stewardship Day - Saturday, July 31

Join VMF on July 31 for a stewardship day on Volcan Mountain. We'll be removing the invasive black mustard and bull thistle along a mile of road located at the top of the County's Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve - an area not typically open to the public. This is a great opportunity to see the beautiful views from Volcan's ridgeline and help maintain its healthy ecosystem.

Time:  8:00 am - Noon

Bird Survey on Volcan Mountain, Thursday, June 17, 2021

Thursday, June 17: Join the Volcan Mountain Foundation for a citizen science bird survey on Volcan Mountain in Julian. This is a great opportunity to hone your bird ID skills with experts, learn about our local mountain bird species, and contribute valuable data to VMF. We'll be focusing our attention on the areas near our Watershed and Sky Island trails. There is a combined two miles of walking during this survey. Hiking is easy to moderate.

Thanks the Palomar Audubon Society for their continued efforts for bird monitoring on and around Volcan Mountain.

Volunteer Stewardship Day Sunday, July 11 2021

Sunday, July 11, 2021 -  Join VMF's Executive Director, Eric Jones, for a stewardship day on Volcan Mountain. We'll be clearing the 1.7-mile Cedar Loop Trail that begins at Volcan's ridgeline. We'll be trimming trail side branches and removing downed trees using power equipment, including chainsaws.

This is a great opportunity to experience a trail that is part of the county's Volcan Mountain Preserve but not open to the public. If you are experienced using power tools and have the proper safety equipment, we'd love your help!
